Shettihalli Rosary Church (Floating Church)
Shettihalli Rosary Church, located near Hassan in Karnataka, is a magnificent 19th-century Gothic ruin built by French Catholic missionaries. Following the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir in 1960, the surrounding village was relocated and the abandoned church became partially submerged underwater every monsoon season. Known as the 'Submerged Church' or 'Floating Church', its roofless arches, hollow nave, and isolated riverside setting have inspired local ghost stories of disembodied hymns and phantom figures.
