    Begunkodar Railway Station, located in the Purulia district of West Bengal near the Jharkhand border, is one of India's most famous haunted railway stations. Opened in 1960 with help from the Santal royal lineage, the station was abandoned for 42 years after a railway employee reported seeing a ghostly woman in a white sari, followed by the mysterious deaths of the station master and his family. Listed officially by Indian Railways as a haunted station, it reopened in 2009 and now draws curious travelers and ghost tourists from across the country.
