D'Mello House
D'Mello House, situated in the quiet hamlet of Santimol within the village of Raia in South Goa, is an infamous abandoned colonial-style mansion regarded as one of Goa's most chilling haunted locations. Built during the Portuguese era, the vast estate was once a magnificent family residence owned by the prominent D'Mello family. However, a tragic fratricidal dispute over property inheritance destroyed the family and left the mansion in ruin. According to local folklore, one brother murdered the other inside the house during a violent argument. Today, the roofless, vine-strangled mansion stands deserted, while locals report blood-curdling screams, shattering glass, and heavy phantom footsteps echoing from the ruins late at night.
