    Barog Tunnel No. 33

    Tunnel No. 33, situated near Barog station on the famous UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Railway, is the longest tunnel on the mountain route, spanning 1,143.61 metres. It is named after Colonel S. Barog, a British railway engineer who tragically took his own life near the tunnel mouth following a humiliating construction error. Unlike typical vengeful spirits, Colonel Barog's ghost is fondly remembered by locals as a friendly, courteous phantom who wanders the tunnel corridors.

    Perched at an altitude of 6,087 feet in the Shimla Hills, Dagshai is one of India's oldest British cantonment towns. Its 1847 military central jail—featuring 54 windowless maximum-security cells—and its colonial cemetery are notorious for extreme paranormal activity. From the spectral apparitions of Irish mutineers executed inside the jail to the haunting white figure of Mary Weston guarding her ornate marble grave in the cemetery, Dagshai is widely considered Himachal Pradesh's most haunted location.
