Stone Bridge
The Stone Bridge (Kameni Most) in Skopje is the primary symbol of the city, spanning the Vardar River to connect Macedonia Square with the Old Bazaar. Originally built on Roman foundations in the 6th century under Emperor Justinian I and grandly reconstructed by Ottoman Sultan Murad II in the 15th century, this historic stone arch bridge has witnessed executions, rebellions, and devastating floods. Passersby and city locals report mournful cries and ghostly figures appearing over the misty river waters late at night.
