    Prince Gong's Mansion

    BeijingChina1777

Prince Gong's Mansion (Gongwangfu), situated near Beijing’s Scenic Shichahai Lake, is the largest and best-preserved Qing dynasty princely residence in China. Built in 1777 by the notoriously corrupt grand secretary Heshen, the palatial estate features grand courtyards, subterranean treasure vaults, and exquisite rockery gardens. Beyond its architectural magnificence, the residence is steeped in ghostly lore, with stories of Heshen’s grieving concubines, haunting vocalizations near the garden ponds, and phantom guards patrolling the outer walls.
