Monastery of Treskavec
The Monastery of Treskavec, formally known as the Monastery of the Holy Mother of God, is an isolated 13th-century Eastern Orthodox monastery built high upon the craggy peak of Mount Zlatovrv near Prilep. Constructed over the ruins of an ancient Roman temple dedicated to Apollo and Artemis, this mountain sanctuary has survived multiple devastating fires and historical conflicts. Monks, pilgrims, and modern travelers report mystical lights, phantom church bells ringing in silence, and spectral monks walking the courtyard at night.
