Mount Cameroon
Mount Cameroon, known locally as Mongo ma Ndemi or Fako, is an active stratovolcano soaring over four thousand meters above the Gulf of Guinea. The indigenous Bakweri people view the mountain as the sacred domain of Efasa Moto, a half-human, half-stone spirit deity who controls volcanic eruptions and alpine weather. Hikers and local guides tell chilling stories of phantom climbers, disorienting mists, and eerie disembodied voices echoing across desolate lava fields.
