    Mount Washington Hotel

    Bretton WoodsUnited States1902

Built in 1902 at the base of Mount Washington in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, the Mount Washington Hotel is a world-renowned Spanish Renaissance Revival resort and National Historic Landmark. Famous for hosting the 1944 Bretton Woods International Monetary Conference that established the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, the grand hotel is equally famous for its lingering paranormal spirit: Carolyn Stickney, the wealthy widow of hotel builder Joseph Stickney. Guests and staff frequently encounter her apparition gliding down grand staircases, sitting in her preserved four-poster bed in Suite 314, and descending upon the grand dining room.
