Renowned as the historic meeting place where pirate Jean Lafitte and General Andrew Jackson planned the defense of New Orleans during the War of 1812, the bar has served famous figures from Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde to Aleister Crowley. It is equally famous for ghost stories featuring Lafitte, Jackson, and Voodoo patrons whose apparitions linger near the antique marble absinthe fountains.

    Located on Court Square in historic Bardstown, Kentucky, the Old Talbott Tavern has been offering food, spirits, and warm lodging to weary travelers continuously since 1779. Widely recognized as the oldest western stagecoach stop in America, this heavy stone landmark served as a vital gateway to the western frontier during the nation's earliest expansion. Over its two-century history, celebrated historical figures including Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln, General George Rogers Clark, exiled French King Louis-Philippe, and infamous outlaw Jesse James passed through its heavy doors. Today, the tavern is renowned as one of Kentucky's most active paranormal spots, famous for Jesse James's bullet holes in an upstairs room, unexplained footsteps, flickering lights, moving glassware, and apparitions of a mystery woman in white.
