Alas Purwo National Park
Alas Purwo National Park, situated on the remote Blambangan Peninsula at the southeastern tip of East Java, is revered in Javanese mysticism as the premier sacred forest of Java. Meaning 'First Forest' or 'Ancient Forest', its dense tropical jungle, limestone caves, and ancient ruins are famous across Indonesia as the supreme gathering place for unseen spirits, ascetics, and practitioners of Javanese occultism (Kejawen).
