Originally established by the Connecticut Delaware Company during the French and Indian War, the outpost provided fortified protection for early colonial pioneers entering the wilderness of Cushetunk. Today, operated by Sullivan County and The Delaware Company, the reconstructed log fort features blockhouses, timber palisades, blacksmith shops, and herb gardens. Known locally for its rich frontier folklore, staff re-enactors and visitors frequently report unexplained sights and sounds, including phantom gunshots, spectral colonial figures, and disembodied voices lingering around the log stockade.
